Vielo Sports launch their own brand of bikes designed and engineered specifically for UK customers

Founded by well-respected industry veteran Ian Hughes and son Trevor, Ian has put together a small team of people and former colleagues he has come into contact with over the years. These people are the best in their field and have become great friends and formed an extended family of like-minded people ready to engineer, design, style and work on every detail of the bike and components with passion for the British customer.

This is a real life story about a bunch of passionate people on a mission to create a small range of high performance bikes in an honest way, for British customer, to cope with British riding conditions. Without the marketing hype and without any limitations on performance potential.
Many bike brands that are sold into the U. K. market are compromised on design and detail for U.K. cycling fans. They don’t really take into consideration the inadequately maintained tarmac and the state that the British roads have fallen into over the years. Plus the different and varying weather conditions in different regions of Britain.
Described as an Indy-Boutique brand, Vielo’s first model, the V+1 is a new breed of Road Plus performance bikes for the road cyclist who is fed up with being shaken to pieces on the poorly maintained British roads and who also wants to combine a bit of fun riding on gravel or loose forest roads without the heavy weight of a hard tail mountain bike.
Dealers will get to see the V+1 for the first time and meet the Vielo team at COREbike in January (room S12).
About the V+1
The V+1 is an 890g UD carbon frame made exclusively for 1x group sets and designed with passive rear suspension. The frame is capable of taking 42mm tyres or 650b x 2.1mm. Designed with discreet mudguards mounts and UK specific internal cable routing the V+1 is engineered with the UK riding conditions in mind.
Optional upgrades include Lightweight Wegweiser wheels and also the RockShox Reverb dropper seat post that’s neatly integrated to operate with the left hand shift paddle (rather than with a separate remote).
Pricing for the V+1 starts at £2999 for the frameset, and complete bikes from £4299 with Vielo carbon seat post and handlebars.
Vielo already has 12 Independent Bike shops signed up in the UK who will be carrying the 2 colour versions of the V+1 arriving in February, plus demo bikes for customers to test ride.
A small range of road bikes are in development right now and plan to be delivered in July 2018. These will be engineered and designed specifically for UK customers and UK riding conditions.
Guy Kesteven has already tested the pre-production sample bike and comments:
